People will say “Be more focus in life” but I understand it may not be easy as it sounds to be focus in life.
We all want to have more, have less stressful days, jump at the big things, keep in touch with loved ones and get engaged with our environment, and it goes on and on.
One of my favorite quote says “starve your distractions, feed your focus”
Right, you have to pay attention to your focus, so you can starve those distractions and consciously kill them off.
So how do you go about starving those distractions, so you can feed your focus?

Full meaning of focus
The word focus means to fix on a central point. It also refers to undivided concentration of attention.
For example, when you have a lens focused on something or an eye focused on a lens, then adjustments has been made to see clearly.
That was as a result of the presence of focus that made it possible to take place the way you had wanted it to be.
However, you can also define focus as a central point, in terms of attention, activity and attraction.
The meaning of focus in science means a point at which reflected or refracted rays of light coverage occurs.
The tense structure on which it can be used as differs. Either as “focus on” “focus in” or “in focus”
For example, you say “focus on the lens for better view” when telling a third-party and referring to a particular thing.
You say “am in focus with the lens” when reporting yourself on a particular thing.
While you say, “make sure you have focus in life” when referring to everything in general that needs focus.
It’s Synonyms are: aim, direct, level, nail, point, set, zero in on, home in on, hone in on, heed and mind.
It doesn’t matter how you put it or how another puts it, the Synonyms of it still means what it means.
The only difference is that focus is used more often, and it is easily understood by majority.
Possible causes of losing it
To lose it means being absent minded or giving to distractions that steals your ability to think and concentrate.
In that case, in order to for you stay focused, you need to identify your distractions so you can come up with the mindset and strategies to concentrate.
But even at that, the following can cause lack of focus :
- Lots of pressure
- Poor planning
- Poor energy
- Poor usage of priorities
Note that anxiety can also affect focus and cause lack of focus because the state of uneasiness it creates puts pressure on you, making you not to focus.
However, to calm your anxiety and focus, you need to do the following :
- Try gentle stretches often
- Communicate with people around you
- Drink lots of water
- Practice good breathing
- Make list of things to do
- Take some minutes to meditate
- Don’t feel bad about it

You should also learn not to overuse or overdo things, even though they are good things.
Especially when there are lots of tasks and goals you have in mind and you really want to get them sorted out.

Right, but sadly enough, the bitter truth about setting or starting with priorities is that they seem bored and difficult to go with.
Well, such is life. Remember that and see it as a prize you have to pay to stay focused with your goals and tasks.
Everyday, people are achieving great things with difficult priorities and empires are built with tough priorities. it wasn’t easy.
Those things that you know matters a lot to you, pay attention to them, then you will be more focused.
You don’t really have to find it difficult to keep up with priorities, you just have to believe you have goals to achieve.
The greater news is that later on, every other thing will fall in place when you set your priorities right.
These priorities will keep pushing you to be more focused.
Because you don’t want to cause anxiety or put pressure on you, so picking your priorities will ease things for you.
5. Dictate when to ignore cellphones
How many times do you look at your phone to check for something or use it?
Sure, i know, it can be tempting to look at your phone, but as tempting as it is, so it can be distracting, especially with the advancement of smartphones and it’s usage.
You can go on with having more time with your phone when you have figured out the time you are less busy.
Another way you could go about with dictating when to ignore your phone is to try as much to put it out when you in company with someone.
That way, you will learn to master how to ignore it and learn to consider more important things over your phone.
It just have to be practiced to be perfected, to make sure you master how to dictate when you should ignore phones.
Also, it helps to control pressure, especially when you are a big time social media user, and controlling your pressure helps to keep you more focused.
A minute on your phone multiplied several times can get you to lose concentration as you go on and on with it.
6. Create a distraction free environment
You know those things that tend to distract you, but even if you don’t, it’s important you identify them.
That was why I earlier stated identifying your distractions as part of how to be more focused.
Whether you are reading, writing, working in the office or fixing something, an environment free of distractions is vital.
Not just that a distraction free environment helps you focus, it extends further.
A good mastery of doing things in quiet environments, makes you prone to master high level of focus in life in general.
Anything at all that doesn’t add to your focus is definitely a distraction.
Little of anything you neglect could be a distraction if it doesn’t seem to get you concentrate on something that demands your attention.
It must not be a loud jazz or hip hop music playing in background, you just need to figure anything that distracts you and eliminate it.

It means starting with lesser high priorities to make sure you don’t overload the priorities in your agenda.
When you have sorted out the lesser high priorities (2), you then proceed with the rest of the high priorities (8) while lowering anxiety and stress that would steal your focus.
Now, depending on your plans and goals, you may want to be very thoughtful when bringing in the higher priorities.
If your goals and plans are likely to fail by bringing up other priorities, you may want to slow it down.
Afterwards, you give time for every other thing to fall in place, while being more focused.
The 2 + 8 prioritization technique is a method that covers all your priorities, but deals with you going slow, one at a time.
The ability to focus will leverage your thinking ability and help you in achieving success.
