The ability to focus has been a major concern to most people. Sure, distractions will come, but focusing on yourself and in everything you do is still possible.
Can I really stress much on how important it is to focus? Although, there are challenging factors about it.
Focus is important because it is a gateway to all thinking such as : memory, perception, decision making, problem solving and reasoning.
In other words, without it, all aspects of your ability to think will actually suffer.
Also, it is important for success because it will leverage your productivity.
People will say, “Be more focus in life” but I understand it may not be easy as it sounds to be focus in life.
We all want to have more, have less stressful days, jump at the big things, keep in touch with loved ones and get engaged with our environment, and it goes on and on.
One of my favorite quote says, “starve your distractions, feed your focus”
Right, you have to pay attention to your focus, so you can starve those distractions and consciously kill them off.
So how do you go about starving those distractions so that you can feed your focus?

Possible causes of losing focus
To lose focus means being absent minded or giving to distractions that steals your ability to think and concentrate.
In that case, in order for you stay focused, you need to identify your distractions so you can come up with the right mindset and strategies to help you concentrate.
But even at that, the following can cause lack of focus :

- Poor usage of priorities
Note that anxiety can also affect focus and cause lack of focus, because the state of uneasiness it creates puts pressure on you, making you not to concentrate.
However, to calm your anxiety and focus, you need to do the following :
- Try gentle stretches often
- Communicate with people around you
- Drink lots of water
- Practice good breathing
- Make list of things to do
- Take some minutes to meditate
- Don’t feel bad about it
Incase you want to train your brain to focus, you can do that by reading lots of book and playing more deep thinking games like chess and puzzles.
Focusing on yourself
To start focusing on yourself, you need to learn how to actually focus in everything, then focusing on yourself will be easy.
Learn to accept yourself and get your priorities right, as well as finding your purpose.
You should also learn not to overuse or overdo things, even though you think they are things you derive pleasure from, epecially when lots of tasks and goals you want to sort out are at hand.
Also, you can use Adderall to help you with focusing on yourself.
The Adderall contains ADHD that helps stimulates the nerve to calm and relieve anxiety so you can concentrate.
Strategies for focusing on yourself and in everything you do
Below is the focus strategy you can use to improve focusing on yourself and stop losing focus, incase you have trouble focusing.
1. Figure out when you are less busy
This is the first step for focusing on yourself and in everything.
Unless you can really differentiate between when you are really busy and when you are less busy, you can’t concentrate on the important tasks at hand.
Important tasks comes with more busy schedules, and failing to understand your schedules means failing to concentrate on those takes they’re important.
In addition, avoid the least resistance motivator to ensure you are well motivated to carry out those tasks during your tight schedules.
Once in a while, during your less busy times, that would be a good time to throw in few of those things you had loved to do.
The mistake most people make is getting caught up with certain things and activities that steals their focus and stops then from focusing on what they’re doing?
They end up bringing those things into their busy schedules.
It’s important you keep those things off your busy schedules, so you can focus on the important tasks at hand.
2. Plan your days a day before
Just like good mental preparation, planning your days a day before ensures you filter out those things that are likely to distract you the next day.
A good mastery of planning your days a day before is a good mastery of mental preparation.
With good mental preparation, you will keep check of your commitment towards any goal or task you have at hand.
Also, it makes sure your self-control is in check and helps you figure out how busy you will be, so you don’t get caught up with doing the wrong things.
As everyday goes by, there are always many things going on in your head.
So going into another day without clearing your head and setting up fresh plans for the next day won’t help with focusing on what you do.
If you plan your days a day before, it will help to reduce pressure and keep you more organized, so you can stay focused throughout the next day.
You will notice that once that day comes, you will be in control of what want to do and those you don’t want to do.
3. Put more energy in morning times
Morning times are the start of everyday, and comes with more things to do compared to later in the day.
However, the problem is that there tend to be lesser vibe in the morning, as better mood energizes and boost willingness to do something with concentration.
Can you think of how many times have you shared great mood or vibed really well with anyone during morning times? That’s rare.
So, why is it important to put more energy in the morning? Because better mood forces us to focus and work even better.
When you have good mood, you can carry out tasks at ease better than when you are not.
In that case, in order not to get distracted because your mood is down, you put more energy to help you with focusing on those heavy tasks.
The key to being focused throughout your day is to put more energy in morning times, then later, during other times of the day, more energy will come naturally.
Once the energy has arrived, everything other thing you do for the day will be easier for you.
4. Start with priorities
Did you know that most of those things that aren’t priorities to you could be stealing your focus?
Right, but sadly enough, the bitter truth about setting or starting with priorities is that they tend to be dead boring and difficult to go with.
Well, such is life. But you just have to see it as a prize you have to pay for focusing on yourself and your goals.
Everyday, people are achieving great things with difficult priorities, and empires are built with tough priorities. It wasn’t easy.
Those things you know that matters a lot to you, pay attention to them, then you will be more focused.
You don’t really have to find it difficult to keep up with your priorities, you just have to believe you have goals to achieve.
The greater news is that later on, every other thing will fall in place when you get your priorities right.
These priorities will keep pushing you to be more focused. They’ll act as your positive motivators.
Because you don’t want to cause anxiety or put pressure on you, so starting with your priorities will ease things for you.
5. Dictate when to ignore cellphones
How many times do you look at your phone to check for something or even use it when you’re busy?
Sure, I know, it can be tempting to look at your phone, but as tempting as it is, so it can be distracting, especially with the advancement of smartphones and its usage.
You can go on with having more time with your phone when you have figured out the time you are less busy.
Another way you could go about with dictating when to ignore your phone is to try as much as you can to put it out when you in company with someone.
That way, you will learn to master how to ignore it and learn to consider more important things over your phone.
It just have to be practiced to be perfected, to make sure you master how to dictate when you should ignore phones.
Also, it helps to control pressure, especially when you are a big time social media user, and controlling your pressure helps to keep you more focused.
A minute on your phone multiplied several times can get you to lose concentration as you go on and on with it.
6. Create a distraction free environment
You know those things that tend to distract you, but even if you don’t, it’s important you identify them.
That was why I earlier stated identifying your distractions as part of how to be more focused.
Whether you are reading, writing, working in the office or fixing something, an environment free of distractions is vital.
Not just that a distraction free environment helps you focus, it extends further.
A good mastery of doing things in quiet environments makes you prone to mastering high level of focus in life in general.
Anything at all that doesn’t add to your focus is definitely a distraction.
Little of anything you neglect could be a distraction if it doesn’t seem to get you concentrate on something that demands your attention.
It must not be a loud jazz or hip hop music playing in background, you just need to figure anything that distracts you and eliminate it.
What may not be distracting to one person may be distracting to another person, because humans are different.
7. Use 2 + 8 prioritization technique
Your priorities are there, probably lots of them.
In that case, how do you leverage your prioritization even better? You use the 2 + 8 prioritization technique.
It means starting with lesser high priorities to make sure you don’t overload the priorities in your agenda.
When you have sorted out the lesser high priorities (2), then you proceed with the rest of the high priorities (8), while lowering anxiety and pressure that could steal your focus.
Now, depending on your plans and goals, you may want to be very thoughtful when bringing up the higher priorities.
If your goals and plans are likely to fail if you bring up those higher priorities, you may want to slow it down.
Afterwards, you give time for every other thing to fall in place, while being more focused.
The 2 + 8 prioritization technique is a method that covers all your priorities, but deals with you going slow, one step at a time.
The ability to focus will leverage your thinking ability and help you in achieving success.
You can define it as a center of attention in terms of activity, attention and attraction.
Anxiety, Lots of pressure, poor planning, poor energy, Indecision and poor usage of priorities are possible causes of losing focus.
